Probably like most Riads, Dar Salam Palm offers old worldly charm, original features and a nice walkable distance from the centre square, market stalls and other tourist attractions in Marrakech. What sets this Riad apart from all others must surely be Fayssal, the property manager. He is gentle, patient and humourous with a bevvy of local knowledge. I don't know what the owner is paying him, but it can't be enough. If you are interested in staying in a Riad, then stay in the one that comes with Faysaal!! We also booked the hospitality food package that included dinners and breakfast. The four dinners were exceptional, different each night and seriously great value. I suppose it might have been possible to find something slightly cheaper outside of the Riad, but nothing so well prepared, and trouble free. I highly recommend the full food package pre-paid if available. We also took advantage of the airport transfer option on offer. A simple online search makes it clear that taxis are ripe to rip off tourists. We chose to avoid the annoyance and the fight, and simply paid the airport transfer fee. It was excellent with no hassles.

Fayssal is really helpful, he gave us always tips and precautions to avoid any bad experiences in Marrakesh. The riad is centrally located. They also served breakfast. The other staff are also kind. The room is also clean.

This is an amazing little authentic Riad! But what makes it especially amazing is the staff! Fayssal and the lovely ladies that cook and clean make this place very special! As a solo woman, Fayssal gave me great tips on what to avoid in the Medina. He was also always on hand to sit and chat as the sun went down on the roof terrace. The home cooked food every day was a feast - both breakfast and dinner. I would thoroughly recommend this place!

Fayssel is fantastic, understands guests’ expectations and informed us about local reality. He very kindly downloaded the taxi and walking map apps on my mobile phone, saved tourist attractions as favourites and offered good advice about dealing with pushy salesmen. Ayub at reception was lovely, always friendly smile and very helpful. Sofia, Khadeeja, Sufiyan and everyone else went out of their way to accommodate our requests, sometimes very early in the morning (6 am when we had to go for hot air balloon experience). The location is brilliant if you want to walk to the tourist attractions, enjoy street food, observe locals going by their daily routine…..

Great location close to Bab Moussoufa, and within 10min walking distance from Jemaa el-Fna square. Fantastic hospitality and care from Fayssal and all the staff. Fayssal shared lots of helpful suggestions for places to visit and eat nearby, which we really appreciated. Great experience overall!

My daughter and I stayed here for a week. The breakfasts and nightly tagines on the roof terrace were great. The hotel is in a lively and always busy area with plenty of character. There are lots of very interesting market stalls just around the corner. It is a 15-20 minute walk through the medina to the main square (Jemaa el-Fna). The manager Fayssal was very helpful and friendly. He organised excursions, airport transfers and everything else we asked for. We would both happily stay here again.Superb.

I visited this Riad for 4 days this February with a friend and we had an absolutely lovely time. From the moment we arrived Faysal made us feel very welcome and comfortable with complementary mint tea and sweet treats and lots of advice about exploring Marrakech. He downloaded us an app that enabled us to use a map without internet which was extremely helpful while walking around the souks - we would have been lost without it. Throughout the whole of our stay he was an extremely attentive host and we always had a laugh and chat together. The room itself was very well equipped with nice thick blankets as it gets cold at night in winter. The free WiFi was good and the breakfast was superb. The location is very close to the centre of Marrakech and ideal for exploring the souks and gardens. Could not recommend highly enough!

This Riad is very homely and we felt this more so because of the lovely staff. Faisal was always really helpful and it was nice getting to know him. The room felt traditional and was always cleaned very well. Breakfast was great- especially the fresh orange juice and pancakes.

Very good and tasty breakfast.A little bit too sweet for us, but this is the Moroccan type.Very clean room: everyday cleaning and changing the towels.Hot water, but not in every room has enough pressure.Good Wi-Fi internet speed, but needed a few resets for reconnecting.Sobha, the owner, is very helpful if you know what to ask.In the Riad, everything was great. Many thanks to Fayssal, a very helpful and nice receptionist, without whom nothing could be as well. The owner could give more details about the trips, especially for the Zagora desert (they call it "Litlle Sahara"): 2 days/1 night. It's not a real desert, is a field near Anti-Atlas mountains, with a few dunes of yellow sand, not red one, brought by truck, maybe. There is no heater in the tents, could be very cold for some people.I thought it would be a gas heater in every tent.If you want real desert, with dunes, sunsets and red sand, you should take 3 days/2 nights trip to Merzouga.Don't miss Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, Essaouira, Ouzoud Falls...

The hotel is in a short quiet side street. As soon as you get to the main street, its noisy and busy and a great pace to be - walk through non-touristy areas for the most part, then convenient turnings to take you to different sections of the city. Hotel staff great; room - or tent great - ask to stay in Touareg - it was just such fun! and the hotel manager gave us a plate each at the end of our 3 day stay - not sure why but it was lovely of her

+ clean+ breakfast+ wifi worked well+ location+ extra blankets+ could leave the luggage after check out+ sockets next to bed - delayed breakfast (it was after a new years party, to be fair)- small bathroom- didn’t get the room key (but they are available)- don’t accept euro coins (which we can understand) so we overoaid and agreed to get the difference back in MAD however, staff didn’t have MAD available at the time; we decided to leave the difference as a tip anyway but were a bit put off as they didn’t make an attempt to return the difference later as agreed

Really good Riad!! Staff and Soba the owner are extremelly considerate and helpful. Breakfast included and warm beds .Room well decorated, and its a pleasure to enjoy the peace inside after craZy Marraketch. Its centric (15-20 min walking to Fna Square) and well priced. Despite the first impression of the neighborhood, the truth is that local people are kind and local food is delicious...

We stayed in Dar Salam in December. It was lovely, the host was great too. We really enjoyed the breakfast- coffee, tea, juice, pancakes, eggs and bread! It might be a bit hard to find it if you arrive on a bus, simply because 80% of the streets do not have names on it, so maps are basically useless in Marrakech. :) all in all, we enjoyed our stay, walking distance to the centre of town, right next to the wall, so if you feel like escaping Medina for a bit and grabbing some modern food or simply shopping in a regular supermarket you only need to walk for 5minutes. Definitely recommend!

The owners are very wonderful hosts - taking personal care of the guests - including arranging for tours and even packing you breakfast for your intended camel ride... Good rooms although no tv but with strong wifi. Check out the breakfast area at the roofdeck with a view of the Atlas Mountains.. Pleasant tea... And even wonderful dessert as a gift and of course the Tajine gift.....

We stayed here on our first two days in Marrakech. We got a bit lost on our way to the hotel (taxi driver took us to the wrong place!) and the owner at the Riad was so helpful - she spoke to a taxi driver to get us to the right place. She cannot do enough to help and is so friendly and kind - made this a real haven in Marrakech. The Riad itself is beautiful - covered in colourful tiles and the rooms are cosy. Such a wonderful place to stay if you want a proper Moroccan experience, you will be treated like one of the family.

I was there with my mum and my little brother, the manager was a lady and she was just amazing and very helpful with everything. Mum loved it as she got to have her mint tea everyday, The rooms were decent size and the view from the hotel was good. The breakfast always was on point and as a whole was a good experience. It was good value for money too. 15 mins walk to the center and there was a mosque very close by for prayers.

My husband and I were warmly welcomed by Youssef, the young manager and son of owner. He spoke very good English so we were very comfortable in talking with him and he was able to clearly explain accommodation arrangements as well as the tours that were interested in joining from Marrakech. This helped us decide which tours to join. He was very accommodating and told us to approach him anytime should we have any concerns, acting like a concierge. His mother who is owner of hotel and also speaks good English is also very warm and pleasant and made sure that we were comfortable during our entire stay. At our request, they prepared a good traditional Moroccan dinner in celebration of our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised when Youssef gave us a large complimentary fruit tart for dessert which was very very yummy. Both Youssef and his Mom really made our 25th anniversary dinner a memorable one even if we were away from home.We chose this hotel because we wanted to experience living in a traditional Moroccan home and we were not disappointed. The building was cool at all times and we found the courtyard quaint and charming. We also liked having breakfast in the small terrace at the rooftop which has a view of the HIgh Atlas. Every morning during our stay, we looked forward to breakfast -- the good coffee, very hot tea and drinking it in the small tea glass with traditional moroccan design, the moroccan bread and fruit preserves and the freshly squeezed orange juice; and also seeing the hotel's lady staffs who pleasantly served our breakfast. We cancelled our booking in the first hotel we came across booking.com and instead chose Dar Salam (also through booking.com) as this hotel gave the best price. Really value for money. Our room with toilet and bath was clean, I know because I did not get any allergy from dust which i usually experience in hotels. On our anniversary, they even placed rose petals on our bed and dresser top and an anniversary greeting.Dar Salam is located in the old Medina and is near (less than 1km) Majorelle Gardens, and is accessible to other tourist destinations in Marraekch. No need to take a cab; just take Bus #11 outside the old Medina wall and paying only 4MAD per pax, one can already go to the Menara, or the Koutoubia. Across the Koutoubia is the famous Djemaa el Fna and in the opposite direction, one can already walk towards the Saadiens Tombs and Palais de Bahia. We did not experience hearing any disturbing noise from the neighborhood during our entire stay. Dar Salam is also walkng distance to al fresco restos like Latitude 31 (the nearest), 7-minute walk to La Ferme Medina, and about a couple of minutes more to I Limoni. The hotel is also near the train station . We entered Morocco via Casablanca and took the train from airport to Marrakech. After staying in Marrakech we moved to Tangier by taking the night train. Dar Salam is highly recommended to other tourists.

first of all I want to state that this review is personal, based on my own experience, which may vary from individual to individual, anyway, staying in this riad was a claustrophobic experience, making me feeling boxed in a room without windows looking the exterior,as I like to see the glow of the natural light at my awakening, the room I occupied didnt provided me of that, because the window it had was facing but the inside court of the riad, although I had made a specific request to the management for a suitable situation before I booked, but my fault was not having inspected the room before paying for it. Unfortunately staying at the ground floor I had to resign having some privacy about the bathroom, which it was narrow, with the door blocking the seat of the toilet and a washbasin just good for birds drinking fountain, a positive note is that the hot water was available. For me a disaster, however I am sure that some would appreciate such aspects of the marrakech riad hospitality. I must say that the location is an advantage on this rating, because it is found at the northern limits of the old city, making it easy to get in and out from the medina. I enjoyed the breakfast in the terrace with fresh brewed coffee, orange juice and a delicious salad with cheese omelette.
